Thanks for the quick reply. It's good to know there are so many Japanese in Chiang Mai. I'm sure my wife will be glad to hear it.

I'm planning to be in Chiang Mai from about September 12 to September 18. I won't have a mobile phone, but I have left my email address for you.

I came across a Web site for a guesthouse called Parami (210-212 Charoenrat Rd.) that looks like a good value. Have you heard of it? I'm going to try to make a reservation there in the next few days, but I'd appreciate it if you'd send me a warning if it's not a good place to stay.

Unfortunately, my wife has to work and won't be able to come along this time. We traveled in Thailand years ago and went to Kanchanaburi and Sukhotai, but didn't get up to Chiang Mai. I've been to Chiang Mai several times, but that was 30 years ago. No doubt it's changed a lot!
