When asked about Thailand destinations, the first image that comes to mind I am sure is similar to the scene above!,"blue skies that appear to go on forever, crystal clear mirror-glass still seas, mysterious rugged landscapes in the distance & the quintessential Thai longtail boat adorned in brightly coloured cloths".
This is the same kind of image that adorns every website or travel brochure that "sells the sizzle" to get people excited about a visit to the Kingdom, but, Thailand IS NOT just about the beaches & islands of the south, the whole country is jam packed full of great places and "New Life Experiences" just waiting to be uncovered.
On a personal note, one experience I would thoroughly recommend is a visit to a Muay Thai Camp, whether just to see Thailand's national sport in the flesh or to actually join a program, you get to see real Thailand!.
As soon as you land at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport you immediately get the feeling that you have arrived in no ordinary place, the colours are vivid, scenery is breathtaking & "the locals" SMILE, you can't help but feel at ease!.
The country logically can be split down into the following: * Andaman Sea Region * Gulf of Thailand Region * Eastern Seaboard Region * Central Region * North & North East Region
Andaman Sea Region:
The Andaman Sea area of all of the Thailand destinations holds the most natural beauty, covering 15,000sq kms(9,000sq miles) & made up of some 3,500 islands (mostly uninhabited), managed within a huge national marine & preservation park, it is what I would describe as "pure un-adulterated paradise",the whole pace of life of this region tends to keep permanent smiles on the faces of all who visit, it's great!.
The main Thailand tourist destinations in this region are:
The islands of this region tend to dominate the coastal resorts in terms of popularity, Hua Hin & Cha Am are very well known tradional Thai resort cities, but do not rank anywhere near as popular as the tropical islands of Koh Samui & Koh Phangan complete with their stunning views, crystal clear blue seas & white sandy beaches.
The main Thailand tourist destinations in this region are:
The beaches of Thailand to be found in the Eastern Seaboard region are located in a cove-like shape beyond the Gulf of Thailand. The region is the main commercial hub of Thailand’s import/export industry. The main beaches that are situated along the coast are Pattaya, Koh Chang and Koh Samet, these are all within easy reach of Bangkok, so tend to get very busy particularly on long weekends, when literally thousand’s of Bangkokians descend into the area.
The main Thailand tourist destinations in this region are:
The central "plains" region of Thailand is home to not only Bangkok the capital city, but also to both Ayutthaya & Sukhothai which were historically the powerbase & from which a large proportion of Thailand's culture eminates.
The main Thailand tourist destinations in this region are:
The beautiful mountainous jungle regions of the North & the endless miles of ricefields of the North-East of Thailand are home to some of the friendliest Thai people & the "fieriest" Thai food that you will find anywhere in Thailand!.
The main Thailand tourist destinations in this region are:
