Question About Thai Tourist Visa For UK Passport Holder?

Hi

If I obtain a multi-entry tourist visa for Thailand does that mean I can stay for 60 days then exit for a couple of days and then re-enter for another 60 days?

Is my understanding correct, or am I mis-understanding something?.
