Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders - Chiang Mai

One of my favourite things in Chiang Mai is the Museum of World Insects & Natural Wonders .At 300 Baht, the entry fee seemed a bit steep.

But it was quirky and brilliant. WONDERFUL, you could say. There's this old couple who studied malaria for years. The wife was off gallavanting somewhere but the husband was there to show me around their house-cum-museum.

It's one of those magical places you enter and don't know what to look at first. There are termite nests, fossils, paintings, glass cases filled with insects, tree trunks, stories to read, newspaper cuttings...

Mr Rattanarithikul has even framed his old spectacles!.

The beetles and butterflies are incredible, they don't even look real. And there are cases and cases of mosquitoes. Imagine that:

1) catching a mosquito

2) preserving and cataloguing them.

Really, it's such a special place!.
