by Mike
(Florida, USA)

Hello,

With my job I always have to pick vacation a year ahead of time. This year I took the first 2 weeks of November off.

Unfortunately Loy Kratong is later in the month so I will miss it.So I would like to know what date it comes next year (2011)so I can plan to visit Thailand then.

Thanks for your time...from: Mr.Mike,Florida, U.S.A.

Loy Krathong & Yeepeng Festivals
by: Kevin(Webmaster)

Hi

If you follow this link regarding the dates of the Loy Krathong & Yee Peng Festivals you will see that there are two completely different dates for the respective festivals......and they have also added an extra night of "Flying Lanterns" being released specifically for the foreign tourists.

All of this information is provided by the organizers of the Yee Peng Festival, so I have to assume that it is correct!.

Kind Regards
Kevin

Date for 2011 Loi Krathong or Yi Peng Festival
by: Anonymous

I have been hearing from many different sources a couple of different dates for this festival. I know the moon would have it be in the middle of the week, but have also read that the last year and so forth it has come on the Saturday before the full moon. Then another place I read a forum where someone in Thailand was asking all the sources and she kept learning that it would be on October 29th, 2 Saturday's before. They gave some pretty sound sources that said this, but everywhere I read it keeps saying it is in November. How are we to know for sure?

Loy Kratong in Chiang Mai
by: Alessandro

The Loy Kratong Festival during the days of Chiang Mai is a must-see, I did not think it was so funny, a lot of people on the streets and flying lanterns lighting up the night, fantastic.
Also I advise you to book well in advance to find accommodation of your taste, the hotels are all full. It's all very nice. Perhaps we will be there together in 2011 ... Hello

Loy Krathong Festival 2011
by: Kevin (Administration)

Hi Mike

Many thanks for your visit to our website & subsequent questions.

The Loy Krathong which is one of Thailand's oldest & largest celebrated festivals will take place between 11th-13th November 2011.

The festival is always celebrated on the full moon of the 12th Lunar Month in the Thai Calender which next year falls on the 11th.

Make sure you get your accommodation booked in plenty of time particularly if you want to visit the Chiang Mai festival as the celebrations here are absolutely stunning!.

If you need any further help, just drop us a line, we are always happy to help.

Regards
Kevin
