Karen Hill Tribe Jewellery Making Center

Hello
My name is Paula Walsh and i am currrently visiting Thailand.

I would like to visit the hill tribes of the north of Thailand with particular interest in seeing a jewellery making center of traditional karen silver making , does such a place exist?or any other form of traditional jewellery making center.

Hi there,
There is a Karen Hill Tribe village that specialises in making hill tribe silver it is called 'Li' near Lampang.

There is a whole village under the OTOP (One Tambon One Product) scheme, its quite a remarkable village as this is where a lot of the wholesale silver shops in Chiang Mai source their stuff from.

So, the entire village is busy always making silver. Some say that you know you've reached the village as you can hear the 'tapping' of the silver!.
