Is It Safe To Travel To Chiang Mai?

Dear Sir,

We will have our company trip to Chiang Mai on 29-31 October 2010.

We heard that the Red shirt protesters will assemble in Bangkok to support Thaksin on 19/09/10 , we don't know what will be happen?.

Shall we still proceed with our plan ?

How is situation in Chiang Mai ? Safe for traveller ?

Hi Sereen

Many thanks for your visit to our website & subsequent questions.

Chiang Mai is currently very quiet.....tourism is recovering slowly following the last political upheavals, and the city has only recently had the "State of Emergency" lifted.

My own personal feeling is that having lived in Chiang Mai for nearly 4 years now.....unless your Government advises you NOT to visit Thailand, then you should still go ahead & visit the city, it is a wonderful place full of both old worlde charm & modern convenience.....you will have a great time!.
