Our Good Causes

Our Good Causes” is a section of our website where we try to support the companies, groups of people & spirited individuals who dedicate their lives to the improvement of living conditions & cultural standards for some of the most remote & poverty stricken areas of Northern Thailand.

We for our part do not make ANY CHARGES for the service we offer to help promote their causes, we are just proud to be able to be of assistance where we can.

We hope that you will follow each of the individual stories, and either help promote them directly, or offer a donation to help assist them to carry out their all important work.

AFECT – Association For Akha Education
& Culture in Thailand

The Association For Akha Education & Culture in Thailand (AFECT) – an NGO (non-governmental organisation) was established in 1981 and is the oldest organization for Hill Tribes in ASIA. We work extensively with UNESCO to preserve HILL TRIBE culture.

Because Thailand’s Hill Tribes culture has just about been destroyed by tourism the courses are run as 100% non profit schemes to assist PRESERVING WHAT IS LEFT of the tribal culture and to protect the deeply rich and pure tribal societies found in LAOS which are now severely threatened by tourism.

Care for Dogs

Thailand sure has it’s fair share of dogs!. These Street Dogs or “Soi Dogs” as they are known, have an estimated population that could be as high as 6 million!.

Left to roam the neighbourhoods without any proper breeding control, many of these soi dogs are starving, sick, dying, abused, frightened, homeless, alone and unloved.

Something had to be done! In June 2006, “Care for Dogs” was established by some kind and willing individuals with a vision to alleviate the suffering of at least some of these animals in Northern Thailand.

Plant With Purpose

From their humble beginnings in the Dominican Republic back in 1984, Plant With Purpose, an environmental non-profit organization, has grown tremendously through the visionary guidance of its American custodians.

The ethos of the company is to bring a holistic approach to the fight against poverty that includes environmental, economic, as well as spiritual transformation.

“We believe that this three-part approach is the key to creating lasting, sustainable change, and we use a variety of techniques such as micro-credit loans, business skills training and community development to empower the poor to solve their own problems,” said Scott Sabin, Plant With Purpose’s Executive Director.

Plant With Purpose programs now cover more than 230 villages worldwide, and since 1984 they have helped more than 100,000 under-privileged people in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Thailand, Burundi and Tanzania.
