"Flight of the Gibbon" - The Ultimate Zip-Line Experience
Flight of the Gibbon....are you ready to soar like a bird from tree to tree in the northern Thailand rain forests?.
Flight of the Gibbon is a recently added adrenalin packed zip line Tour that allows you the opportunity to do just that.
Flight of the Gibbon is located within the ancient rainforests on the Jae Zorn National Park some one hour’s drive from Chiang Mai near the village of Mae Kompong.
As the tour company commented “we chose this beautiful place because here we could offer the very best environment for a thrilling experience in the quiet majesty of a rainforest, operating in a way that is not detrimental to the delicate balance of the ecosystem structure”.
This is a unique zip line canopy tour through pristine, 1,500 year old rainforests, 18 platforms, sky bridges and lowering stations connect 2km of zip lines that take you effortlessly through differing layers of the rainforest canopy. It’s a great way of getting a bird’s eye view of the rainforest showing you scenery that cannot be seen from the ground.
One zip line lover describes it as "being as close as you can get to flying across the top of the jungle canopy”. Participants strap on a harness with a caribiner (a metal loop with a sprung or screwed gate) that is attached to a wheel on a cable strung between trees.
You push off from a platform on one tree and zip along the cable to a platform on the next tree. You zip line easily from tree to tree on a spectacular and gradual downhill course, taking time to linger in your favourite places, soaking up the fragrance, clean air and animal life.
The Flight of the Gibbon safety team accompanies you and teaches you how to move through the trees with the speed and grace of a young gibbon!
The daily tour starts in the mornings anytime from 8.30 am to 9.30 am; you can either make your own way to the tour base or alternatively be collected from your accommodation in Chiang Mai.
After meeting & greeting the tour operators & fellow zip line enthusiasts plus a welcome cup of coffee at the local village it’s time to “belt-up” (literally!), and for the safety staff to take you through the various procedures.
Then it’s up into the trees, for the first “zip” and the initial fear of doing it is very quickly replaced by pure adrenalin & excitement.
Following the initial three zip lines you then Hike for a while & zip line again stopping after a couple of hours for a walk in the forest arriving eventually at a waterfall.
After all that excitement & exercise not surprisingly you are hungry & it’s time for a meal of Thai Food that you can either choose the standard fayre, or alternatively order ala carte “chef’s specials”, the food is delicious & very tasty (particularly so after the exertions of the day!).
The tour also offers Overnight Accommodation as an additional option, if you prefer to stay over & sample local Thai life along with sharing their typical meals.
This whole tour is run by a highly professional company, the equipment is pristine & their management of your safety is always paramount, it’s a truly unforgettable tour!.
