Car Rental and Motorbike Rental in Chiang Mai
Car Hire:Renting a car in Chiang Mai is really easy, and is by far the most sensible way to give you maximum freedom to travel where & when you like. To rent a car you will need to provide your passport and ideally (but NOT imperative) an international driving licence. Please ENSURE you have FULL INSURANCE included within your car rental plan, you can rent a car on a daily, weekly, monthly or even three monthly basis. Car rentals range between 700thb up to 2,000thb/day dependant on the size & quality of the car, and of course the longer you rent for, the better "deal" you will get. Personal Note: As an EXPERIENCED Driver on Thailand's roads, I would strongly recommend that both rental car drivers & particularly rental motorbike riders drive exercising conservative caution,its a truly great country to travel around, but the roads do hold dangers for novices.
Motor Bike Hire:If you decide that you prefer the "freedom" of a motorbike rather than the confines of a rented car, many places around Chiang mai offer rentals, again you can rent per day, week, month or longer. When renting a motorbike, your will usually be required to provide your passport, but please be aware that there is no insurance cover provided with rental motorbikes, please also INSIST on the renter supplying crash helmets !!. Motorbikes are a really easy way to get around the congested streets of Chiang Mai, but are obviously not so comfortable longer journey's !!. Motorbike rentals start at 100thb-200thb/day for smaller engined bikes, going up to 500thb-800thb/day for larger engined motorbikes.
