Buying Baht with a visa

By | October 2, 2013

Hi, we are coming to Thailand on friday and have just been told we will not be able to use our cards in the ATM’s.
I was wondering if you could tell me if it is possible to buy Baht with a visa at a forgien exchange office or would I need to bring cash with me.
This has come as a bit of a shock as we asked our bank nearly a month ago and they told us it would be fine!!
I would really appreciate your help and advice
Thank you
Sarah

Buying Thai Baht Using A Visa

Hi Sarah

Nice timing by your bank!. The other options forgetting cash in Thailand.

* Cash – yes bring a cash float into Thailand to get you started but DO NOT bring it all in as cash, it is just too risky!.

* Travelers Cheques – old fashioned but still trusted method for traveling with, can be easily exchanged at foreign exchange counters.

* Western Union – you can either set this up before you leave or get someone back home to set this up for you then just collect the funds from any local Thai post office.

* Credit Card – via foreign exchange counters you will just need to show your passport & possibly your flight tickets as personal identification.

These are the main options, hopefully this information will help you.

Kind Regards
Kevin
