One of them is the Sam Phan Nam Floating Market. Thailand is very popular for its floating markets meaning that you ride a boat while you shop. Floating markets are a trademark of this Asian paradise and here is what this one floating market has to offer.

Getting Here

The Sam Phan Nam Floating Market is easy to get to. It is located on Soi Hua Hin 112 which is to the right if traveling south on Highway 4. Highway 4 is the highway that enters Hua Hin from the north and goes through the central part of the city. Once you have exited downtown Hua Hin traveling south, start looking for Hua Hin Soi 112 to your right. Follow the highway and signs to the market after that.

The Layout

What They Offer

At the market, you have over 190 shops to choose from with about 40 of them floating on the boats. The floating boats sell such items as handmade souvenirs and local foods.

They also offer a couple of other alternatives for getting around the market. One is the pedal boat where you can take a cruise on the lake and get a little exercise at the same time. There are also Asian-style pedal carts where a driver pedals you around while you ride in the back carriage. You can also ride the train for a tour around the market.

Other Attractions

The black swans that hang around the floating market are quite interesting. They walk up to the local outdoor restaurants waiting for the owners to give them their daily rations. They are very beautiful birds and make for an interesting picture.

Opening Hours

Opening hours for the Sam Phan Nam Floating Market are every day between 10.00 A.M. and 11.00 P.M. You’ll find most of the crowds on the weekend. During the week, it is pleasantly peaceful for spending a lazy day browsing those shops that are open and just sitting to enjoy some food and drink. Not all of the shops are open during the week however.

Hua Hin is not only famous for its beaches but the surrounding attractions such as the Sam Phan Nam Floating Market. Don’t miss out on all this holiday paradise has to offer. Visit this market on your next trip here.
