4 days in Thailand – What to do?

Hello,

I’m Gaurav form India and this is what my current situation regarding my Thailand travel plans looks like:

Original plan:6 relatives arriving in Bangkok from different parts of the world – would spend 3 days in Bangkok and then proceed to Hua Hin (for a family wedding) – come back to Bangkok and (4 of us) would spend another 3-4 days before we fly back to our respective home countries.

Because of the flood situation, we’re not comfortable spending time in Bangkok anymore, so one option for the 1st half of our trip is: land at Suvarnabhumi airport – head to Pattaya – stay for 3 days – head to Hua Hin.

I’m wondering what to do with the 2nd half of our trip as some of our tickets are fixed (cannot change the dates/get a refund)

How easy is it to travel to Chiang Mai/Koh Samui/Phuket from Hua Hin and get back to Bangkok in 3/3.5 days? How much would that change my budget?

Hua Hin to Phuket

Hi Gaurav

Many thanks for making contact with our website, having digested your itinerary my own recommendation would be:

Travel from Hua Hin to Phuket which is a great base to either just chill out or visit some of the most beautiful islands & beaches you will find anywhere in the world!. To get to Phuket from Hua Hin I would recommend taking the train from Hua Hin – to Surat Thani (full details here) http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm#Southern%20Thailand then get a bus from Surat Thani to Phuket (takes around 3 hours, lots of buses run between the two places).

Getting back to Bangkok could not be simpler, there are several flights daily between Phuket & Bangkok – thus allowing you maximum time to soak up the beauty of the Andaman Sea peninsular.

Have a great holiday!.
